Bill Horn – School Board Candidate for District G (At Large) – update! Since the last CTL, when Bill was “sort of” in favor of the WC 1 issue on the ballot in November, he is now dead-set against it. WC1 is the ballot measure that will raise our sales tax to 8.265% to benefit the schools. Because of $300K recently paid as the deductible in an insurance settlement against a teacher who abused a special ed student, Bill Horn is fed up and not willing to give another penny to WCSD because they squander it. Please help elect Bill Horn to the School Board. His district is Incline to Washoe Valley and everything west of 395/580, with the exception of Cold Springs, Golden Valley and Lemmon Valley. Please help Bill defeat the Democrat operative Katy Simons Holland, who was Washoe County Manager and presided over the steady decline of County funds for 15 years. Make a donation, offer to have a sign in your yard. Contact Bill and help: http://www.hornforschoolboard.com/
Katherine Snedigar – Re: School Board… Did you know 11 professionals were hired to deal with bullying in the District? Did you know there is a 70% graduation rate in Washoe schools, but only 13% are proficient? It is virtually child abuse and fraud to allow students to enter school without knowing English. They should take these students into a room with a Rosetta Stone DVD and teach them English, so when they get into the mainstream classroom, they are not holding the rest of the class behind so these few students can receive remedial help.
Roger Edwards – Chair of the Washoe County Republican Central Committee (WCRCC), making himself available to all. The doors are open, the lights are on at the GOP office. The County GOP office can use some help manning the office, answering phones, etc.
There is a WCRCC meeting Thursday night, July 28, 6:30 at Incline Village High School Auditorium, 499 Village Blvd. A portion of the new Bylaws will be on the agenda.
Carpooling for the WCRCC Incline meeting: Meet at the Summit Shopping Center, in front of the Century Theaters, close to the Wasabi Japanese Restaurant at 5:15, leaving at 5:30 PM.
Gary Schmidt – provided a form if you want to be on the WCRCC, but cannot be at the meeting in Incline Village Thursday evening. The process is to be nominated at one meeting and elected at the next meeting. This form allows you to be excused from the Incline meeting, but still nominated. You must be present at the next meeting in August in order to be elected.
Hillary’s America, the movie, playing at the Riverside, Sparks and Parklane all week. We hope it is extended for another few weeks or more. It powerfully takes the Democrat Party from its inception with Andrew Jackson to present times, brilliantly displaying the horrible record of the Dem Party with regard to civil rights for all minorities (Blacks, native Americans, women) and bringing forward Hillary’s adoration of Saul Alinsky (Rules for Radicals) and Margaret Sanger (Planned Parenthood founder) and what those radical views/policies have done to hurt America. The movie had actors portray characters in history who looked just like the historical figures and spoke the words of those figures, so it was as factual as could be. The last part of the movie addresses the Clinton Foundation and how only about 10% of the millions of dollars donated to relief causes (global warming, Haiti Earthquake fund, etc) went to the cause. Most of it lined the Clintons’ pockets and those of their cronies. This is a must-see!
Washoe County Republican Assembly (WCRA) – Tuesday, Aug. 2, 6:00 pm, KNPB Conference Room, 1670 N. Virginia. Pizza will be served next Tuesday evening.

John Weiss – Regarding Question 1 coming up on the November ballot (Bloomberg initiative), John does not believe that question got 55K signatures and how can we prove otherwise? The deadline for this was June 21, 2016, was vetted and verified by the various County Registrars of Voters around the state and is on the ballot. Nothing more can be done except to defeat it at the ballot box.
And, please review the videos on Col. Frank’s youtube channel containing 2015 NV legislative testimony exposing the election system vulnerabilities. You will see that the Nevada election system managers were allowed by the Legislature leaders to summarily dismiss all allegations without having to offer any facts. This much more than a highly “troubling” situation! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2Xg01Ngr86a7t9yJUaDBlA

Sherry Powell and Juanita Cox – two national delegates to the RNC Convention in Cleveland. They felt basically safe inside metal barricades surrounding the event, with bicycle, horse and pedestrian Cleveland Police helping keep them safe. There was a procession of protestors, but it was kept a distance away and it seemed there were many more police than protestors. There was a palpable tension when Ted Cruz entered to speak. Once he made his speech about something other than supporting Trump, the booing started in the NY delegation and quickly moved throughout the assembly. Juanita spoke to several TX delegates who had supported Cruz, but after he spoke, decided they had supported the wrong candidate. Trump’s children and Pence presented themselves admirably and were very well received.
Honor Flight Nevada – will have a booth at Hot August Nights (entire 1st week in August) in the west parking lot of the Atlantis. Consider running into Sportsman’s Warehouse at Kietzke & Moana and buying a raffle ticket as proceeds benefits Honor Flight, and you might win something!
David W. Carter – Candidate for Nevada State Board of Education. His opponent is the appointed incumbent Pat Hickey. David has been involved in education for decades, opposes Common Core and is a less-government, lower-taxes Republican. His District coincides with Congressional District 2, so if Mark Amodei is your Congressman, you can vote for David Carter.
Lauren Scott – Candidate for Assembly District 30, against Michael Sprinkle. Difference between Dems and Republicans? Dems ask for more money and say they’ll create jobs and make schools better. Republican actually do create more jobs. Lauren’s district is slowly turning more Republican and she got 46% of the vote in 2014, so she could very well win this time around.
Sherry Powell brought to our attention that not all of our representatives and State Constitutional officers are supporting Trump, so they need to hear from us. Call them. Let them know now is the time to unify behind the Republican nominee.
